JALANDHAR, Jan 18 — A 14-year-old Dalit girl of Roopewal village near Nurmahal was allegedly raped by an electrician and one of his friends belonging to the same village last night.

The girl, daughter of a labourer, Gurmej Ram, was heading towards the house of her aunt, Kiran Mehml, in the same village at around 7.30 p.m. and was allegedly abducted by Jinder Bhaia, an electrician running a shop in the village, and one of his friends, Sukhdev Kuka, while she was passing in front of the shop. They took her to an adjoining vacant plot and repeatedly raped her.

In a complaint to the police, the girl alleged that the suspects threatened her with dire consequences if she narrated the incident to anybody. She also complained that Bhaia had been teasing and passing indecent remarks whenever she happened to pass in front of his shop.

A case has been registered at the Mehatpur police station.
