Hyderabad, May 2: The Department of Tourism is organising a three-day Buddha Jayanti festival (Lumbini festival) from May 5 to 7 at the Necklace Road.

The programme will be held every day at 6.30 pm. During the festival, photos of various Buddhist sites and relics will be on display as part of a photo exhibition.

A series of cultural programmes with Buddhist themes such as Leheronki Rajhans (Hindi drama), Amrapali Kuchipudi dance ballet and Jaya Mangal gatha will be organised.

On the concluding day, there will be a Shanti Yatra, lighting of lamps along the Hussainsagar lake and chanting by members of the Buddha Vihara Trust. A fire display will mark the end the celebrations.
