5,000 posts for SC/ST to be filled in 3 months The Times of India News Service UDUPI: The Karnataka government will take necessary steps to fill 5,000 backlog posts reserved for scheduled caste and tribes all over the state within three months, said Kagodu Thimmappa, Karnataka Minister for Social Welfare here. Talking to reporters on Monday, during his visit to Mudoor village near Kollur, in Kundapura taluk here, he said, as the vacancy due to backlog has created several problems and delay in completion of work, immediate steps would be taken to fill the vacancy. He said the Department had decided to build 300 hostels with Rs 80 crore assistance from the HUDCO. He also added that 77 Morarji schools would have own buildings at an estimated expenditure of Rs 135 crore all over the state. The minister said 5,000 SC/ST and 5,000 backward class candidates would be given a year-long computer training, with a stipend of Rs 500 per month. He also said the department had planned to spend Rs 32 crore under the Ganga Kalyana project for 5,000 beneficiaries. The minister reviewed the development work at Mudoor village, where 60 Koragas were given the land by the state government. During his visit, he called upon the Koragas to make use of the facility given by the Government and be self-dependent by supporting their family profession. He also directed the related department officials to ensure that the Koragas made better use of the facility. The minister was accompanied by Gopala Poojary, Byndoor MLA and officials of the Social Welfare Department. |
