BC body seeks quota in colleges Hyderabad, May 9: The State B C Welfare Association on Wednesday demanded that the government strictly implement the rule of reservation in admissions to junior colleges in the State. Accusing several corporate junior colleges of violating Constitutional provisions, association president R Krishnaiah, in a statement said the GO Ms No 138/79 had made it mandatory on the part of all educational institutions to reserve 25 per cent of seats to BCs, 15 per cent to SCs and 6 per cent to STs. Several corporate colleges have been denying seats by selling away seats for hefty sums, he said. He also demanded that the government restrict the strength of each college to 500 to avoid unhealthy atmosphere in Intermediate education. |
