CM for quota for SCs in pvt. sector By Our Special Correspondent BANGALORE, MARCH 18. The Chief Minister, Mr. S.M.Krishna, has favoured reservation of jobs in the private sector for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and the other backward classes (OBCs). The Chief Minister, however, said he was for persuading the private sector to adopt such a policy and not through other means. Mr. Krishna was talking to presspersons at the media centre of the Congress plenary session. Reacting to the complaint that OBCs had been excluded from the Congress Working Committee (CWC), he said the situation would be corrected when the three nominated vacancies would be filled. He said that a decision on closing down the sick public sector industries of the State Government would be taken after studying the report to be submitted by a committee. He said that the case of each public sector unit was different from the other. The Chief Minister expressed his opposition to the way the NDA Government was handling the issue and favoured what he called restructuring the PSUs. To a question on the police operations against the forest brigand, Veerappan, the Chief Minister claimed that he was on the run. The Special Task Force had cut off the supply of essential items to Veerappan. He did not foresee any non-cooperation from Tamil Nadu if a new government were to come to power there after the elections. |
