Dalits stage dharna in Chikballapur
DH News Service Hunderds of Dalits from Perechandra village in Chikballapur district took out a procession and staged a dharna in front of the zilla panchayat executive engineer’s office in protest of the lack of drinking water in their colony in the village. The enraged protestors came in tempos and shouted slogans against the authorities for failing to meet the drinking water requirement of the Dalits in the village despite being apprised of the situation on earlier occasions. They complained that their children were forced to fetch water from a kilometre’s distance. ZP Executive Engineer Bissegowda who heard their grievances assured them of sinking a borewell in their colony. |
