Dalit woman paraded nude in Arkalgud village
DH News Service A Dalit woman farm worker was allegedly paraded nude and chased in Mathara village of Mallipattana Hobli in Arkalgud taluk on Monday night. The woman, Renuka, (30), was working on a farm in the village, when a man from the same village, identified as Rajegowda, reportedly picked a quarrel with her in connection with a ‘land dispute’, stripped her and then chased her all the way from the farm to the village. At the village, Renuka immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint. The Dalit Sangarsha Samithi (DSS), meanwhile, demanded that the accused, Rajegowda, be arrested immediately and that Renuka be offered protection. DSS leaders Rajendra Doddamagge and Ganesh Velapuri have forwarded this demand. Meanwhile, it is learnt that the police have not registered a case. They however are reported to be on the lookout for the accused. |
