The Maha Bodhi Society, Bangalore is the premier Buddhist institution in the whole of South India. Venerable Acharya Buddharakhita established the Society in Bangalore in 1956. As a result of his untiring efforts from the last four decades it is serving the people through its spiritual, medical, social, humanitarian and educational activities, without any distinction of caste, creed, race or religion.

March 9th is the full moon day and it is the 80th birthday of our founder Venerable Acharya Buddharakhita. In commemoration of his eightith birthday we have planned a meaning celebration in which we are keenly desirous of your participation. The function will be held on March 9 and 10, in Mahabodhi Education Campus in Mysore.

The Programs are:
1. Felicitation to Venerable Acharya Buddharakhita.
2. Inauguration of Mahabodhi children Home, which includes hostel for 200 children, meditation, Centre, Library, Conference hall, Dining hall and office.
3. Seminar on "Buddhism, Education and Human Values".
4. Release of 3 books written by Ven. Acharya Buddharakhita.
5. Foundation for the Mahabodhi Shanti Stupa at Mysore.
6. Hospital Dana Service and distribution of school materials to poor children.
7. Meditation Courses.
8. Cultural Festivals and Exhibition.

We are organising inauguration of the new students' home built at the cost of Rs.1.6 crore for 200 poor children. International delegates will be present from European countries, USA, Southeast Asian countries, Taiwan and Korea. About 400 people are coming from different parts of India.

We request your good self to participate and help us financially as the estimated cost of the programs will be about Rs.7 lakhs out of which the major part will go to publications apart from conducting the international seminar. Only with your kind support we will be able to conduct the program successfully. This is an opportunity for all of us to propagate Dhamma.

Venerable Ananda Bhante will be training about 30 devotees to attain Monkshood. He is actively involved in the above projects. His discourses on Dhamma are popular all over the European, Western, Southeast Asian countries, Taiwan and Korea.

Venerable Sanghasena Bhante of Mahabodhi Society has built a Modern Hospital with latest infrastructure donated by Germany, Switzerland, USA and many other countries. Two schools for Girls and Boys, A beautiful Meditation centre that can house about 30 devotees with all facilities, a nunnery to train Buddhist Nuns and a mess at Leh, Ladakh.

He is also responsible to build a Babasaheb Dr.B.R. Ambedkar's Library at Leh. AT PRESENT HE HAS BEEN ENTRUSTED BY THE TAIWAN GOVERNMENT, A PROJECT AT A COST OF $ 2 BILLION TO BUILD A SCHOOL AT THE DISTAUSTOROUS EARTH QUAKE AFFECTED BHUJ IN GUJARAT.

Venerable Dhammarakhita is involved building schools and other Dhamma activities at Karnataka. Babasaheb Dr.B.R.Ambedkar's dream is realised by the yeomen service rendered by the above Venerable Monks of Mahabodhi Society.

The devotees of the Mahabodhi society made an appeal to the people to include themselves as Buddhists in the on going census all over India.
