DSS stages dharna for dalit rights The Times of India News Service RAICHUR: The Raichur unit of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti on Friday staged a dharna before the legislators house demanding enforcement of rights of dalits. Their demands were implementation of SC order to protect the interests of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes; recruitment for the 25,000 vacancies, pending since 1978 on backlog basis; establishing a separate commission for SC & STs in state, land for agriculture labourers in rural areas, to check atrocities on dalits. The agitation was under the leadership of Chandrashekhar Aroli, Bheemanna Udamgal and Sharanappa Dinni and others.
