Expelled Bahujan Samaj Party leaders R K Chowdhary and Barkhu Ram Verma floated a new political party, Lok Parivartan Party (LPP), here on Monday. The new outfit was launched at a meeting organised at the Parivartan Chowk here.

The office-bearers of the LPP were also announced on Monday. Mr R K Chowdhary will be its president and Javed Iqbal of Allahabad will be general secretary. Former Vidhan Sabha Speaker Barkhu Ram Verma will hold the post of vice-president of party.

Banners denouncing Ms Mayawati fluttered at the Parivartan Chowk during the meeting. The Chowk was constructed during the first stint of Ms Mayawati as the Chief Minister of the State in 1995.

Announcing the formation of the outfit, Mr Chowdhary said the party would strive to bring all those leaders, who were either expelled or forced to leave the Bahujan Samaj Party, under one platform
