Garo students’ call to Gogoi GUWAHATI, May 25 — The Garo Students’ Union has requested the Chief Minister, Sri Tarun Gogoi, to provide Cabinet berths to at least four tribal representatives. In a press release, the union has specially requested the inclusion of Sri Pronoy Rabha elected from 36-Dudhnoi (ST) constituency as a Cabinet minister for overall development of the tribal communities in lower Assam. The Garo Students’ Union had supported the Congress(I) in the recent Assembly elections in Goalpara, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, Nagaon and other districts. However, one tribal representative has been given ministerial berth in the Gogoi government contrary to more than three Cabinet berths in the previous government, the union said. |
