IAS officer suspended The Times of India News Service LUCKNOW: Chief minister Rajnath Singh has suspended V K Varshney, special secretary in the department of Ambedkar village development, for financial irregularities. During his posting as the district magistrate of Lakhimpur Kheri in 2000, books worth Rs 41.81 lakh were purchased illegally under the total literacy campaign. An inquiry conducted by director, informal education, L P Pandey found the charges true. Action was taken against the officer on the recommendation of the education department. |
