JNU girl alleges molestation, casteist slur Shruti Goela New Delhi, September 21: It could be a case of sexual harassment, or violence against the Scheduled Castes or student politics. A female student of Jawaharlal Nehru University complained of sexual harassment, attempted molestation and physical assault. But later, the victim attempted to withdraw the FIR after reported on-campus negotiations with the different student groups. At 11.30 last night, 10-12 students, reportedly belonging to School of Languages, entered Leela Kumari's room in Godavari hostel. "They were drunk and started misbehaving," she complained. She said they made derogatory remarks with respect to her caste. An FIR was lodged in the Vasant Vihar police station early this morning, even before the university authorities were intimated of the mishap. The girl wanted speedy justice. But then came the twist. While initially, she named four culprits Ashutosh Anand, Ranjan Priyadarshi, Ramesh Kumar and Kunal Kumar later she tried to withdraw two names on grounds of 'mistaken identity'. Negotiations were clearly on between different student groups, said a JNU official. The university has ordered an inquiry into the matter. Police have registered a case under Sections 7 and 509 of the CrPC. Investigations are on.
