Hyderabad, April 26: The Lambada Hakkula Porata Samiti will hold a public meeting and protest rally from Indira Park to Babu Jagjivan Ram statue in Basheerbagh on June 9, demanding recognition of lambada thandas by panchayats.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, State president of the Samiti, N J Naik said the State government has been turning a deaf ear to the problems of lambadas. According to him, there are more than 80 lakh lambadas scattered in 15,000 thandas throughout the State. "The State government has not provided facilities like light and water to many thandas. We are demanding these things but there is no action," he added.
