Moolavasis demand leadership in struggle Deccan Herald Hyderabad, July 17: Moolavasi Jana Chaitanya Vedika on Tuesday demanded political leadership to the weaker sections, agriculture labour, SCs, STs and other toiling masses in the movement for separate Telangana. Addressing a press conference, Vedika president Pathakota Laalaiah and other leaders emphasised the need for a broad-based platform with all sections of the people to chalk out plans and programmes for achieving Telangana. Though Moolavasis (weaker sections) constitute 85 per cent of the population, they were always at the receiving end. They were always deceived by the upper caste leaders who started agitations and made the poor suffer, they said. Moolavasi leaders said they had approached Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhar Rao and urged him to include some of the leaders from these sections in the leadership for the movement. Their plea was rejected by the TRS leadership, they lamented.
