PWG activists kill six more Dalits in Bihar Patna,Wednesday, May 08, 2002: In a second strike within 48 hours on Dalits in Bihar, six more were gunned down by the proscribed People's War Group in Patna district late last night, a senior police official said.
PWG cadres of the Jaynandan Yadav faction armed with sophisticated weapons fired a hail of bullets at Bhadaura village killing the six Dalits, including two women and two children, Additional Director General of Police Ashis Ranjan Sinha said. Despite Jaynandan's death in an encounter with the police last year, his gang was still operating in Patna and Jehanabad districts. The bodies were taken to Patna Medical College and Hospital here for post mortem as an additional company of Bihar Military Police was rushed to the village in Masaurhi police station area. A combing operation was underway with senior police officials, including the Inspector General of Police (Operation) Neelmani camping at the spot of the massacre believed to have occurred over old enmity. The incident comes less than 48 hours after the killing of six Rajasthani Dalits labourers, working on the modernisation of the Sone canal at Diliya village in the same district on Sunday. Seven Ranvir Sena activists have been arrested in connection with the killing at Diliya.(PTI) |
