RPI to contest in all wards
(From Times of India, Bangalore Edn., March 20, Tuesday) MYSORE : The Republic Party of India (RPI) has decided to field its candidates in all wards in the ensuing elections to the Mysore City Corporation (MCC). According to party president Nagaraj, his party would enter into an alliance with Congress, as the Republican Party of India supported the Congress in a majority of the constitutencies in the assembly elections.
DSS protests in city against Taliban act (The Times of India News Service) MYSORE : The city unit of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi took out a protest rally on Monday condemning Taliban’s act of destroying Buddha’s statues. The rally started from Town Hall and reached the Deputy Commissioner’s office via K.R. Circle and D. Devaraj Urs Road. They later submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner. The protesters were led by DSS leader Bettaiah Kote and Govindaraju. They shouted slogans against Taliban and demanded an apology. It may be recalled that Taliban had ordered the destruction of all Buddha statues in the country, terming them as "anti-Islam”. Despite protests and appeals from different parts of the world, Taliban went ahead and destroyed the statues. |
