PROTEST BY THE FEDERATION OF AMBEDKARITES,BUDDHISTS,AND RAVIDASI ORGANISATIONS OF NORTH AMERICA (FABRONA)
DATE:8th September 2000 STOP ATROCITIES AND GENOCIDES OF DALITS (UNTOUCHABLES) OF INDIA IMMEDIATELY!IMPLIMENT THE CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISIONS FULLY!! Dalits in NothAmerica demand Justice from Indian Prime Minister. The Federation of all Dalit organisations in North America, known as FABRONA, has organised one of the largest protest opposite UN in the history of Indian Protests in NewYork-UN AREA. They want to draw the attention of the visiting Prime Minister of India, Mr. Atal Bihari Bajpai, towards the total failure of The Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Atrocity(Prevention) Act 1989 for Dalits India, who will be speaking at the UN on 8th September 2000. The present BJP Alliance Government has been responsible for promoting Hindu Fundamentalism thro Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajarang Dal, the bodies of fascist RSS organisation like KKK, thus making living hell for Dalits, Christians, Muslims,Sikhs, Tribals and other minorities. Less than 4.5 % Brahmins control 70% of nations top positions. According to reports received by Fabrona, even today 80% Dalits, upto 200 millions, live in villages in destitution, working as landless labourers, whose income is below $1 a day.(there are 300 million people at starving level with less than dollar a day income in South Asia.-UNDP REPORT 1996) Child Slavery is forced on 100 million plus children in the same region, 20 million of which work in hazardous working conditions dying at an early age.(as per Human Rights Watch, Sept.1996 Report:Child Slavery in India).Most of the children are Dalits. The cold-blooded murders, rapes, destruction of their properties, burning of whole villages by the hindus, who want to maintain status quo in the caste system, is a daily occurance. This 3000 year old slavery of Untouchables has not changed much even after 50 years of independance. Hindu police side with their cousins, the oppressors and refuse to register the complaints against the culprits.Hindu Judges protect other Hindus and the justice is denied. There are hundreds of reports of recent killings in TamilNadu state, UP,Bihar, MP,Orissa etc. and the life with dignity for Untouchables has become a distant dream, in spite of constitutional provisions. Child education has been denied to many Dalit children in rural India. Parading Dalit Women NAKED by force has become the way of life and pleasure with power for hindu landlords in rural areas of many states. FABRONA will be submitting a Memorandum to the Prime Minister with Demands for full implimentation of UN Treatybody recommendations along with India's constitutions provisions to lead the life of dignity for Dalits, as equal partners in the development of modern India.
