Police pin Assam minister for rape
http://www.hindustantimes.com/nonfram/101100/detSTA09.asp INVESTIGATIONS HAVE suggested involvement of Assam Tribal Welfare Minister Rajendra Mushahary in the rape of a minor girl from Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar district. The victim, who claimed that the minister had raped her twice in a hotel room after drugging her, gave birth to a child on October 24. "Eyewitnesses and hotel documents have revealed that the minister was in the hotel on both dates in February and March, when the rapes allegedly took place. This coupled with other evidence would be sufficient to nail Mushahary," the police said. Ruling out the need for the test, the official said that they had enough proof to nail the minister. He said the chargesheet was almost ready and would be filed in court either by month-end or early December. The DNA test, if required, would be carried out at a later stage. The Guwahati High Court has granted the minister anticipatory bail till the police filed the case diary. |
