Three dalits killed in Bihar http://www.timesofindia.com/today/03indu8.htm 3 October 2000 JEHANABAD: Three dalits, including a woman, were killed on Tuesday in a retaliatory attack by suspected outlawed Ranvir Sena landowners at Barheta village in the extremist-dominated Jehanabad district of Bihar following the killing of a former mukhia by People's War Group (PWG) ultras, police said. PWG activists shot dead Lala Sharma, a former mukhia of Abgilla panchayat at Barheta. Sharma was district pramukh of Rashtrawadi Kisan Mahasangh, a frontal organisation of the Ranvir Sena. In retaliation, suspected senamen gunned down three dalits at the same village. Tension prevailed in Kinjer area after the incidents. Jehanabad SP R S Bhatti and Arwal SP S Khopre were camping on the spot to oversee combing operation to arrest the killers.(PTI) |
