Speaking on the topic Mr. R.C. Sangar, Senior activist, BAMCEF, told that some of the brahamanical organisations held muslims responsible for the slavery and helpness of scavenging castes. They propagates that muslims had created bhangis (Scavengers). But it is not the fact. The creation of Bhangi was the output of brahamanism and brahamanism is only responsible for slavery of scavenging castes.
There are approximately 25 subcastes doing the scavenging work in India. These castes are looked on as most untouchable among untouchables. We will have to looked on who had made slaves and who is responsible for our helplessness and under what circumstances they had made us slaves.
Hadappa Mohenjodaro, the Sindhu Valley Civilisation, is the oldest civilization of indigenous people. If we go through history, then we will come to know that in this civilization nobody was doing the work of scavenging or carrying the flith on his head. In this indigeneous civilization every house was accompanied by well, latrines, Flush System and closed sewers. Such type of facilities can be seen today in well planned cities only. One more thing for proper sanitation there were septic tanks. So nobody was involved in scavenging work and nobody was slave or helpless. But soon after this period some arya Brahmins came to India with their conspirical programme and made the indigenous people slave by using the theory of infiltration and rule.
There were conflicts between the Aryans and non-aryans and those who were defeated and not obeying the Aryan culture, all those were looked as most degraded and they they were called as bhangis (who were detached from main Varna System.)
These conflicts are still going on. The bania business class joined hand with arya Brahmins and got second position in varna system. Those who opposed the arya - brahmanical system were kept at the bottom and without any right. The name bhangi was given to us because the scavenging castes discarded all the social, religious, political system of arya Brahmins. We were the people who boycotted their “Yagyas” and inturn as a punishment they (Brahmins) forced us to do the scavenging work.
First the arya Brahmins gave the work of cleaning their houses, but some from our community married to the Brahmin girls and as a punishment they forced us to carry flith on our head. The childrens of these Shudra brotherens were called as chandals and were given the most degraded works, which are already mentioned in manusmruti. The was the basic reason why Dr. Ambedkar burned this manusmruti. This major work of Chandals were to carry the dead animals and hang all those who were given the punishment of death.
In the Gautam Buddha era, Buddhism was the only religion accepted by most of the indigeneous people and their was social revolution. Due to this social revolution there was kingdom of shudras (today’s OBC). The name of the king was Mahapadmanand, who was from Nai (Hair cutter) Community. After this there was a conflict between Buddha and Brahmin Chanakya. This Chanakya Created a Shudra called Chandragupt Maurya to destroy the Shudras Kingdom. Chandragupta Maurya Killed Dhananand, son of Mahapadmanand and brought back the Brahmin raj.
Dr. Ambedkar writes that after the shudra raj there was revolution by Pushya Sungh Mitra and this man killed Brahadrath, the then king, and established once again the Brahmin raj. Due to spread of Buddhism, most of the indigeneous people were converted to Buddhist but this Brahmin Pushya Sungh Mitra ordered to bring the head of all monks and inturn they were awarded gold coins. This started the deterioration of Buddhism and establishment of Brahmanism.
Muslims rullers came to India in 12th century, but our people were doing scavenging works before the arrival of muslims which proves beyond doubt that bhangis were created by arya Brahmins and not by muslims. There are three reasons for creation of bhangis (1) Our people married the Brahmin womens (2) We discarded their culture of god and Goddess(3) Most of our people were converted to Buddhism. These were the three basic reasons why our determined enemy forced us to do the most degraded scavenging work.
