Delhi's silent protest against Rape & brutal killing of Dalits in Khairlanji, Maharashtra

On September 29th, 2006  Surekha Bhotmange (45), her daughter  Priyanka (19) and sons Roshan (17), and Sudhir (18) were brutally murdered by the caste hindus of Khairlanji village in Bhandara District of Maharastra.  Bhaiyyalal Bhotmange the head of the family survived as he was not at home when the inhuman act took place. The caste hindus of Khairlanji paraded the four victims naked and brutally publicly gang raped both mother and daughter and killed all of them.

 As a mark of solidarity with the Dalits in Khairlanji Village  and to remind Maharashtra Government to fulfill its constitutional obligation,  major Dalit Organisations jointly organised a candle light  silent procession at India Gate in New Delhi  on Sunday, the 12th of November 2006 from 05:30PM to 07:30PM. More than 300 Dalits, friends, supporters and Student Association Representatives took part in the procession.

All of them jointly demanded that:
 
Those involved in the henious crime to be punished severely otherwise Dalits will register the crime in their memory and the criminals will be made to repay their blood debt in terms of their own blood.
 
After observing 2 minutes noble silence to the departed souls all of them paid respects to those Dalits who have made supreme sacrifice for the Self - respect movement.
