THE MERITORIOUS ONES

The meritorious in India are those who have time, facilities, resources, and get timely help and right guidance to apportion and adjust their time, space, material and energy.  They thus are in a position to prepare properly and work well to reach their goals comfortably even before time.  But, it is rather unfair and unjust to consider them to be intelligent, talented and capable persons.  It is wrong even to feel that they are the industrious ones who could achieve results through their sincere and hard work.  This wrong attitude and unfair conclusion, sadly is the main cause of our Problems.  We are now burdened with these so called meritorious ones, who are incapable and unwilling men and women, in sensitive important and crucial positions of responsibility and power.  Worser is the situation, when the less meritorious and sometimes the crooked ones amongst them, as it frequently or most of the time happens, land up in our Educational Institutions.

Most of the 'meritorious ones' know nothing about themselves, their capacities and capabilities, their subjects or about their students.  As they themselves had learnt very  little or understood nothing real in life, they could hardly explain relate or orient anything except reproduce whatever they have read in the manner in which they have understood the texts.  Reading or mugging up or speaking being not learning, they are themselves at a loss to relate what they have learnt to the People or the Students in the Class or their Future, and so they leave all others around them in a much helpless state.  The Problem thus gets compounded when some amongst them take over the Responsibility of producing books, text books, journals, magazines or even simple writings.  All they do is cut paste and publish.  Sometimes they end up in misleading the students, and thus put them into never ending problems.

The 'most meritorious' amongst the 'meritorious' students generally enter into the Services under the Govt, or Public Services offered by the private sector.  Of course the crooks and the helpless amongst them go to the politics or get into or sucked in the real 'Private Services' by the 'Private Individuals'  Those in the Services of the Govt and in the Public Services of the private sector, start their work as Assistants or Trainees, then take over routine marketing or production or administration.  Slowly they move into executive functions, policy formulation and planning.

The Results of the work and the contributions of all the 'most meritorious' and the 'meritorious' ones, and the goals and targets achieved by them are there for us to see all around, after so many decades of Independence and 'democratic' Rule and Governance.  And most of us silently continue to suffer from the tyranny of ignorance, criminality of the incompetent, and corruption by the incapable but 'most meritorious' and the 'meritorious' elite products of our elite families and elite Schools Colleges and Universities.  The failures and mess created by the highly 'meritorious' ones coming through the All India Competitions, rounded up by high level Personality Tests, Interviews etc taken by the top Executives and senior Administrators from amongst the 'always meritorious' sections of the Society manning the controls of the Government is colossal, and is drowning us as a People in debt, shortages, misery, poverty and sicknesses, even though there are many who vertually float in money liquor and drugs without ever working or even moving their little finger.

If the records of the 'best, highly meritorious, always meritorious, most meritorious and the meritorious' are all the Misseries of the People and Failures of the Govts, we can easily imagine the damages being caused by the 'next best meritorious' ones who could not get into the Govt and Public Services, and are eagerly picked up by our Colleges and Universities.  Yes, that is really sad and unfortunate for the Academics, and we will have to pay for their failures during the generations to come!
